Be Unique

Hi Crafting Peeps,

Well it certainly feels like Winter is on its way here in Sydney.  We've had stormy weather for the last couple of days and its been very dark and wet!  So it seemed appropriate that my card for my Whimsie Doodles post should feature some water!  I decided to use this digi a little differently and make a shaker card.

The fab original image is called School of Fish and yes, the sentiment does come with it :)

I printed the image twice on Xpress It cardstock, with one of the images flipped.  I coloured in three of the cute fishes and the gravel with my copics, cut them out and added some glossy accents to the fishes eyes.  I completely cut out the centre of one of the fish bowls and replaced it with acetate. I lightly inked the card base with some SSS seaglass ink and glued the gravel directly to the base.  I mounted the fish on foam pads. I then put the shaker together with the addition of seed beads.  I added some doodlebug sprinkles as bubbles.  After I had done all that I realised that I had forgotten to print my sentiment onto the cardstock - duh!!!  Hence the stuck on sentiment :(  Never mind....there is always next time!

Supplies:
Whimsie Doodles Digital Stamp - School of Fish
Simon Says Stamp Ink - Audrey Blue and Seaglass
Doodlebug Sprinkles - Swimming Pool
Seed Beads - White, Crystal and Silver
Glossy Accents

Flowers Galore

Happy Sunday everyone,

Today I have an 'adult' card to share with you!! Gasp! I thought it was about time I moved away from cute images and critters and actually made a card that featured flowers.  This is a first for me even though I do own some flower stamps!  I think I tend to shy away from this type of card because I can never decide on a layout and on what colours to use and because I don't think my colouring is good enough!

However, the Botanical Love Stamp Set from Create a Smile has been sitting on my desk staring at me for over a month now and I decided it was time to ink it up. I absolutely love their stamp sets and own nearly all of them...or I will once my recent order arrives in the post :)  My inspiration for this card came from Marina Johan who made a absolutely gorgeous watercolour card by randomly stamping some of these fantastic stamps for her background.

For my card I used the awesome sketch from  Freshly Made Sketches.  My colour inspiration came from Curtain Call - Bouquet Challenge.

 Here is my card:

 Supplies:
Create a Smile - Botanical Love Stamp Set
Clearly Besotted - Honeycomb Stamp Set
Cardstock - Black and Purple
Memento - Espresso Truffle Ink
Simon Says Stamp - White Pigment Ink
Stampendous - White Embossing Powder
Ranger Liquid Pearls - Rouge
Ranger Liquid Pearls - Gold
Ranger Stickles - Yellow

I stamped the two flower heads and leaf randomly and coloured them in with my copics. I added some liquid pearl drops to the red flowers and highlighted the centre with some yellow stickles.  I used gold liquid drops on the stamens of the purple flowers.  I stamped three extra leaves on another sheet, coloured them, fuzzy cut them out and glued them directly on top of three leaves for some extra dimension. The sentiment is from Clearly Besotted and is heat embossed with white embossing powder. I hope you like it.  I was quite pleased on how it came out in the end but definitely need more practice colouring in flowers - they could be better!

What's the Scoop?

Hi Crafting Friends,

It's Challenge time over at Whimsie Doodles and we have a fabulous fresh and bright colour theme this month.  Aren't these colours beautiful?

Design Seeds

The tangerines in the photo made me think about food!! Soo, I just had to use a food digi! This yummy ice-cream is one of six images with sentiments available in the Sentiment-edibles collection. It is actually only two scoops high but I wanted three scoops on the cone so I printed the image of again and fuzzy cut a scoop and layered it on the top!

I coloured in the cone with my copics and added a touch of clear wink of stella and some sprinkles.  The background was created with a MFT scallop stencil and some Simon Says Mint Ink. Each layer was then mounted with some foam tape for some dimension.  A nice, tasty fresh CAS card :)

Supplies:
Whimsie Doodles Digital Stamps - Sentiment-edibles
MFT Mix-ables - Scallop Stencil
Simon Says Stamp - Mint Ink
Lawn Fawn - Let's Polka Petite Paper Pack
Doodlebug Design - Kraft in Colour Paper Pad
Doodlebug Design Sprinkles - Tangerine and Bumblebee

Happy Spring

Hi Friends,

I am honoured to be a Guest Designer for Top Tip Tuesday Challenge Blog today :)  I love their challenges and try to play along as often as I can.  Their theme this week is to create a project with 3 of something. I hope you can play along.

I wanted to make another spring card and I inked up, for the first time, this adorable stamp 'Flower Arranging' from LOTV.  I bought it ages ago when there was a sale and have never had the opportunity to use it.  It seemed like a great choice having three flowers - just to keep with the three theme!! For my card I also used three digital papers and three adhesive pearls!

Supplies:
MFT Die-namics - Pierced Square Stax
Spellbinders Nestabilities - Fleur De Lis Squares
Impression Obsession - Butterfly Die Set
LOTV - Arranging Flowers Rubber Stamp
Sentiment - Old Stamp from Stash, brand unknown
Nitwits Digital Papers - In the Meadow
Memento - Toffee Crunch
Flower Soft - Ultra Fine White
Zig Wink of Stella - Clear Glitter Pen
Adhesive Pearls - From Stash

I coloured the bunny in with my copics, added a touch of Wink of Stella to the centre of the flowers and some Flower Soft to the tail for a 'furry' effect.  I love how it has turned out.  I stamped the sentiment with Toffee Crunch Memento Ink to keep with the colour theme of the card.

Say Cheese!

Hi and Happy Sunday,

Today I have some Whimsie Doodles cuteness to share with you.  This adorable digi is called Photo Lizzie and she can be found here. I love her and her retro camera and have been wanting to make a card with this digi for quite some time.  I found the perfect match for her when I came across Happy Snaps Paper Pad by Kaisercraft. I love the strong, bright colours and it was a nice change to move away from the spring pastels.

Supplies:
Whimsie Doodles Digital Stamp - Photo Lizzie
Kaisercraft - Happy Snaps Paper Pad
Black Cardstock
Doodlebug Sprinkles - Bubblegum
Basic Grey Candy Buttons - Black
Glossy Accents

It's snowing.......somewhere!

Hi Friends,

I hope everyone's week is going well so far.  Christmas is only 260 days away so I thought I better start making my cards -haha!!  I actually love making christmas cards and after taking a break from them since January I thought it was about time to start up again.  Here in Australia we have just put our clocks back so the evenings are dark and winter is approaching...so its feels like a good time for some wintry makes....even though it never gets that cold!  Sigh.... being a Scottish girl I just can't get used to Winter in the middle of the year and Christmas in the summer!

Anyway for this card I used one of my all time favourite winter stamps from LOTV. They have a huge collection of seriously cute winter and Christmas stamps and I own alot of them.  This darling stamp is called Snow Cute.  I coloured the wee penguin in with my copics and added some glitter glue under the image for some icy snow and some liquid pearls as snowdrops. It was then a case of just layering him up with some DP and glitter cardstock and the addition of an icicle border.

Supplies:
LOTV - Snow Cute Stamp
LOTV - Grunge Christmas Postmarks Sentiments
Spellbinders Nestabilities - Large Circles
Spellbinders Nestabilities - Large Scalloped Circles
Marianne Design - Icicle Border
AC Cardstock - Ocean
Nitwits Digital Paper - Polar Pals Snowflake Blue
Ranger Stickles - Diamond Glitter Glue
Ranger Liquid Pearls - White Opal
Glossy Accents
 Glitter Paper - From Stash
Red Gems - From Stash

Hippo Good Luck

Hello and Happy Monday,

I hope everyone has had a good long weekend and hasn't make themselves sick on chocolate!!  I have been very good - no easter eggs for me this year!  Anyway today I would like to share a last minute card I made for this weeks Freshly Made Sketches.  I love their sketches but haven't had the time to play along for ages!!

When I saw this weeks sketch by Jen T I knew I wanted to make the half circle a body of water but I wasn't sure where to go with it.  I was browsing some digital stamp sites and came across this happy hippo and an idea came so I just had to buy him!  He is called Diving Hippo and is available from Gerda Steiner Designs.  As per usual the card didn't turn out the way I envisioned and I'm not 100% happy with it but it was great fun to make!

Supplies:
Gerda Steiner Designs Digital Stamp - Diving Hippo
Clearly Besotted Clear Stamps - A Little Sentimental
MFT Die-namics - Stitched Circle Stax
MFT MIX-ables - Waves Stencil
KH Digi - Fun spots Polka Dot Digital Paper
Doodlebug Sprinkles - Bumblebee and Lily White
Doodlebug Sequins - Assortment - White, Blue
Seed Beads - Silver, White, Clear, Gold
Glossy Accents
Acetate

I coloured him in with copics and added some glossy accents to his goggles - you can just see it in the close-up below.  I also created the water with a stencil and my copics and decided to make a shaker card out of it just for some fun. I hope you like it.

Spring Bear

Happy Easter :)
I hope everyone is enjoying their long weekend. It is new release day over at Whimsie Doodles and there are two fantastic new images available.  For my card I chose Garden Bear.  I love critters and this one is a darling, I love her hat and water can!!

Now, I know her flower looks like a sunflower but I wanted to use pastel spring colours so went for yellow and pink!! While I was colouring the flower with my copics I accidently (again!) picked up the wrong marker and made a mess :(  So I ended up printing a second image and colouring just the flower head. I cut it out and glued it on top - disaster averted and it gives the image a little more dimension, though this isn't obvious from the photo!!  I also added some wink of stella to the flower centre.

Supplies:
Whimsie Doodles Digital Stamps - Garden Bear
Simon Says Stamp - Talk Bubbles 2 Clear Stamp Set
Simon Says Stamp - Stitched Squares Dies
Martha Stewart -  Cherish Punch
Neenah Cardstock - Desert Storm
Lindsay Jane Digital Papers - Bouquet of Flowers
Wooden Butterfly - From Stash
Pink Pearls - From Stash
Zig Wink Of stella - Clear Glitter Pen
Glossy Accents

I hope you'll pop over to Whimsie Doodles Blog to check out all the other fabulous makes by the girls. Enjoy the rest of your day and thanks for visiting.

Egg-stra Special Easter

Hello,

It's Thursday today, which means only one thing.... it's the last day of work until Tuesday - whoopie!!!  As you can tell I am very much looking forward to being off work this Easter weekend and hopefully getting some more time to craft too.  Today I have a colourful CAS card to share with you that I made for my DT post over at Whimsie Doodles blog. This image is called Special Easter and is perfect for all those last minute Easter makes and so much fun to colour.

I coloured in the image with copics and then cut out a tag shape.  I framed the tag with some bright spotted paper and added a variety of colourful twine. For the base I used the reverse (debossed) side of a spotted embossed piece of card.  For some extra pops of colour I added a sprinkling of sequins - and that was it, very quick and easy.

Supplies:
Whimsie Doodles Digital Stamp - Special Easter
KH Digi - Candy Store Spots and Stripes Digital Paper
MFT Die-namics - Pierced Traditional Tags Stax
Cuttlebug Embossing Folder - Swiss Dots
The Twinery - Pink Sorbet
The Twinery - Lemondrop
Tim Holtz Twine - Orange and Green
Doodlebug Twine - Bubble Blue
Doodlebug Sequins - Assortment Pack
