Cozy Lizzie

Hi friends and happy Monday,
Christmas seems have have come round way too fast this year, I can't believe there are only three more sleeps until Santa!  I'm hoping Santa brings me lots of crafting goodies....or at least some cash to buy some!

I am so excited as today is my first solo post as a DT for Whimsie Doodles.  For my card I used the super cute Winter Lizzie. I've used her for a Christmas card here but she could easily be used for a winter birthday card too. Her boots and winter coat are just so adorable.

Woohoo....I'm a Doodlelicious Diva!

Hello crafting friends,

Apologies for the lateness of this post - epic fail with my scheduling!

Sooo I have some very exciting news to share with you all....... though I may have given it away in the blog title - hehe!!!  I am now an official member of the Whimsie Doodles Design Team - yipee!  You may have heard me mention this before but I LOVE Whimsie Doodles digital stamps, they are just so darn cute and so much fun to colour.  I am so looking forward to sharing all Melyssa's wonderful digital images with you.

This month's challenge at Whimsie Doodles is Celebrating the Holidays. There are digital images up for grabs and a chance to be a guest designer too!  For my DT card I used the cutest image ever -  'Big Gift'.  I coloured her in with my copics and added Wink of Stella to the rim and pom pom of her hat. I decided to try and stay away from the traditional red and green for this card and chose some fresh bright colours from Echo Park Merry and Bright paper pad.  The wee stars used to frame her and the negative die cuts from Simon Says Stamp Falling Stars Die.

Whimsie Doodles Digital Stamp - Big Gift
Clearly Besotted Stamps - Modern Christmas
Echo Paper Digital Paper - Merry and Bright Pack 2
Hero Arts Ink - Soft Pool

You can check out the rest of the DT fabulous makes over on the Whimsie Doodles Blog.

Twinkly Christmas

Hi everyone,

Another weekend over and only 17 days till Santa arrives - where is the time going?!
I managed to make a quick Christmas card last night for Freshly Made Sketches. I loved Cindy's sketch and really wanted to use a heart but then I remembered I only have wee heart dies and tiny heart stamps!  I didn't fancy trying to cut a heart out myself so opted to go with a star instead!

I loved the colours in Curtain Call Challenge inspiration photo so decided to create a card with silver, blue and green!  Unusual choice for a star I know!

For the background I used my Cuttlebug star embossing folder.  I created my main star using die-inlay method and popped a small silver star in the centre with a foam dot. I covered the entire star with some frost sparkle ink . The wee silver accents are actually tiny stars - negative die-cuts from SSS falling stars die. I sprayed the card with some frost shimmer for an ultra sparkly effect!  Unfortunately the photos don't do the sparkle justice! The sentiment was stamped with black ink and heat embossed with crystal embossing powder.

 Cuttlebug Stars Embossing Folder
Impress Star Frame Nesting Dies
Simon Says Stamp - Holiday Shapes Die
Simon Says Stamp Falling Stars Die
Clearly Besotted Stamps - Tag Along Die Collection
 AC Cardstock - Weave
Silver Glitter Paper
LOTV - Christmas Wishes Sentiments
Stampendous Crystal Embossing Powder
Smooch Glitz Sparkle Accent Ink - Frost
Sheer Shimmer Spritz - Frost

Hopefully you can see the sparkle better in this photo.

Thanks for looking, enjoy the rest of your Monday.

Birthday Surprise!

Hi everyone, happy Saturday,

I can't believe it has been 12 days since I lasted posted on my blog!!  Unfortunately I've struggled to make any cards recently as my mojo has completely deserted me :(  I've also been busy trying to get christmas pressies all wrapped and sent off to my family in the UK in time for Christmas - thankfully I am almost done, only one more package to send.

I managed to put this very simple birthday card together last night. The recipient lives in the UK and their birthday is on Tuesday.... I only posted it this morning! it's going to be a tad late.  Better late than never though!

This fab stamp from LOTV  has been coloured for a couple of months and I thought it was about time I used it.  As my mojo has disappeared the rest of the card is very simple  - thankfully the main image is colourful!

Clearly Besotted Stamps - A Little Sentimental

Bright and Sunny!

Hi peeps,

I decided to move away from Christmas cards just for one day!!  I think it had something to do with the 37 degree Celsius heat we had yesterday.  We are well and truly coming into summer here in Sydney, hence the bright and sunny card!

I based my card on the great sketch from Freshly Made Sketches which I rotated 90 degrees.

Here is my take on it:

Lawn Fawn Clear Stamps - Life is Good
Lawn Fawn Dies - Life is Good
Memory Box Dies - Puffy Clouds
MFT Die-namics - Fishtail Flags Layers Stax
MFT Die-namics - Blueprints 14
Clearly Besotted - Scalloped Edges Die Collection
Nitwits Digital Paper Solids - From the Sea

Apologies for the slightly blurry photo, I didn't realise until I uploaded it and by then it was to dark to take another one.

Thanks for looking and hopefully see you again soon,

Mr Gingerbread

Hi everyone,

I have some more Whimsie Doodles sweetness to share with you as Guest Artist. The digital stamps in the November release Santa and Friends Collection are just so darn cute. If you have seen any of my previous posts you would already have met Santa and Snowbuddy.  I would now like to introduce you to GIngerbread man!!  He looks good enough to eat! The sentiment is from Whimsie Doodles Santa Sentiments.

The background was created using Simon Says Stencil medium dots and a variety of red and green copic markers.  A few Doodlebug Sprinkles were also added.  This panel was then mounted on red card. Oval die-cuts were used to create the frame for the sentiment.

Mr Gingerbread was coloured using copics. His mouth and cheeks were accentuated using Glossy accents.  His nose and buttons are a combination of glossy accents and ultrafine glitter, while Rangers Stickles was used for his other sparkly bits!
Here is a close up:

I hope you like him!

I might head off now and make a non-christmas card - think its something to do with the 40C degree heat outside!

Thanks for looking and I hope to see you again soon.

My Snowbuddy

Happy Sunday everyone,

I would like to share a card with you I made for Whimsie Doodles as their November Guest Artist. This cute little guy is called Snowbuddy and is part of the Santa and Friends Collection.   I decided to move away from the more traditional red and green Christmas colours and went for some pink and light blue instead - I think he, or maybe it should be a she....suits it!

For the card base I used my newly purchased Simon Says Falling Snow stencil and some embossing Paste.  I love how it came out! - this stencil is going to get alot of use.

Whimsie Doodles - Santa and Friends Digital Stamps
Simon Says Stamp Falling Snow Stencil
MFT Die-namics - Stitched Ciricle Stax
Lawn Fawn Stitched Hillside Borders Die
Memory Box - Crystalline Border Die
Clearly Besotted - Modern Christmas Stamp - Sentiment
Wendy Vecchi White Embossing Paste
Wink of Stella - White glitter pen
White Glitter Paper
Blue Ribbon from Stash

I coloured the die-cut background with my copics and added glitter snowflakes.
The 'snow' is outlined with Wink of Stella White Glitter pen - in the photo it just looks like a white line, but I promise you in real life it actually looks glittery!  I can't seem to make a card without adding at least one form of glitter!

Guest Artist at Whimsie Doodles!!

Hi everyone,
I'm super duper excited to be sharing my cards with you today as guest artist for Whimsie Doodles!  I may have mentioned this before but I love their digi's...and I also love making Christmas cards. So you can guess how excited I was when I got my hands on the new digital stamps from the November release  -  Santa & Friends and Santa Sentiments.

Here is my card using one of the four images from Santa & Friends:
Whimsie Doodles - Santa & Friends Digital Stamps
Bo Bunny Mistletoe Collection 6x6 paper pad
Ribbon Girl - Red Grosgrain Ribbon
DecoArt Glamour Dust Crystal
Lawn Fawn Trim the Tree Clear Stamps
Woodware Santa's Here Clear Stamp - Sentiment
Simon Says Stamp Ink - Lipstick Red and Green Apple
Red and Green Card and Sequin from Stash

I kept with the traditional green and red for this one - Santa's just got to be in red!
I have quite a few Santa stamps but I'm not sure any are as cute as this guy!  I coloured him in with my copics and added some Crystal Glamour Dust to his hat and cuffs for some extra sparkle.

I would like to link this card up with the following Challenges:

For my second card I used one of the new Santa Sentiments:

Whimsie Doodles - Santa Sentiments Digital Stamps
Bo Bunny Mistletoe Collection 6x6 paper pad
MFT Die-namics - Christmas Ornaments Die (Holly)
Black Card, Star, Gems and Sequin from Stash
Sakura Gelly Roll Pen White

When I saw this sentiment my first thought was chalkboard!!  I have never tried this technique before and set myself the task of trying to do it with a digi!! I certainly achieved a messy chalkboard effect!

It was super easy to do. I enlarged the digi in Word and added an artistic effect called 'glow edges'.  This outlined all the words in white with a black background.  I coloured in the words with white sakura gelly roll pen to give a more realistic chalk effect used and I sponged the image with white ink.  The tree and stars are coloured with copics. Addition of paper, die-cut holly leaves, some bling and it was done.  It is probably one of the fastest Christmas cards I've ever made!

That's it from me today. For more inspiration head on over to Whimsie Doodle Blog where you can see the awesome cards made by the DT team and to join in with this month's challenge - Merry and Bright.

Thanks so much for visiting and hopefully see you again soon.

Whimsie Doodles DT Call

Hi everyone!
I was soo excited when I saw that Whimsie Doodles were having a design team call. They were the first company I ever bought a digital stamp from when I rediscovered card-making and are my go to company for cute digital stamps. I LOVE their images and own quite a few of them!  I would love to be part of their team.

I wanted to make a couple of cards for my entry instead of linking to a past post. With December just around the corner I just had to make some Christmas cards (I love making x-mas cards!!). For both cards I used one of my favourite Whimsie Doodles images called Snowman.

Card 1 - Warm Hugs and Wishes
For my first card I kept with the traditional Christmas colours of red and green and threw in some kraft card for extra 'warmth'.  I coloured him in with my copics and added a heart button.  I used Wink of Stella Clear Glitter pen on the pom poms and rim of his hat but it's very difficult to pick up in the photos.

Whimsie Doodles - Snowman Digital Stamp
LOTV Clear Sentiment Stamps - Christmas Wishes Collection
Lil' Inker Designs Die - Stitched Rectangles
MFT Die-namics - Pierced Square Stax

Ribbon Girl - Plain Red Gosgrain Ribbon
Green Gem and Heart Button from Stash

Edited to include:

Card 2 - Winter Wishes
For my second card I used non-traditional colours for a 'cooler' card!  I also decided to try out a couple of techniques that I have not tried out before - making a shaker and creating my own background paper.  Considering I was watching TV when I made the background paper it didn't turn out too bad - a bit squinty in places, but that makes it even more unique....well thats what I tell myself anyway.

He was also coloured with copics and fuzzy cut.  I used Glamour Dust instead of Wink of Stella on his hat - it shows up so much better in the photos!

Whimsie Doodles - Snowman Digital Stamp

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer

Hi everyone,

Hope you had a great weekend.  My weekend was busy and fun-filled but went by far to fast! Fortunately I managed to squeeze in some time to make a card for Freshly Made Sketches.

And yes its another Christmas card - but this time there are no snowflakes in sight!

Whimsie Doodles - Reindeer digital stamp

Snowflakes Everywhere!

Hi everyone,

I can't believe it has been a week since my last post...... and that it is November already - where is the time going!!! Christmas is going to be here before we know it.  The rush is now on to get all my Christmas cards finished so I can post them off to all my friends and family in the UK.

Today I am sharing a card with one of my favourite stamps - LOTV James the Bear- In the Snow which I coloured with my copics. Unfortunately he is now retired, but they have load of other adorable stamps.

LOTV - James - In the Snow
LOTV - Christmas Sentiment Tags
Spellbinders Dies Standard Circles Large
Spellbinders Dies - Lacy Circles
Memory Box Dies - Crystalline Border
Neenah Cardstock - Desert Storm
Sweet Shoppe - Tis the Season For: Joy Digital Snowflake Paper
Silver glitter paper and white glitter paper
Memento - Rich Cocoa Pad
Ranger Stickles Waterfall Glitter
Ranger Liquid Pearls White Opal
Wink of Stella - clear pen
Ribbon, Twine and Snowflake charm from stash

This card is covered in snowflakes - snowflake paper, snowflake die-cuts and even a snowflake charm!
For the top half of the card I die-cut different shapes and sizes of snowflakes using Memory Box Crystalline border and glued them to the cardstock to give an embossed appearance. I also die-cut the flakes in silver and white glitter paper and surrounded James with them. For the snowfall I used liquid pearls.  I love glitter and sparkle on my wintry Christmas cards and couldn't resist using Wink of Stella on his hat and covering the ground with some glitter glue!

Here is a close up of James:

I love Snowmen!

 Hey everyone,

Guess what...I've got another Christmas card to share with you.  I made this one a few days ago but I just haven't had the time to post it until now!  I love this stamp from LOTV..... actually I love all of their stamps and own ALOT of them. This one is an oldie but a goodie and is called Mr Snowman.

I paired up Mr Snowman with some old Echo Park This and That Christmas papers. The sentiment is also from LOTV and one of many everyday stamps in the Greeting Postmarks collection.

LOTV - Mr Snowman Stamp
LOTV - Greeting Postmarks
Echo Park This and That Christmas 6x6 pad

The small snowflake in the centre of the sentiment is highlighted with Wink of Stella Clear Pen, but you can not really pick this up from the photo.

Pretty Petals

Happy Saturday,

I hope everyone is having a great day. I would like to share with you the card I made for  The Card Concept Challenge.

Let me tell you it certainly was a challenge for me!! I haven't really done many cards with flowers as my past card making was restricted to Christmas cards and family birthday cards as that was all I ever really made time for!  Also I did not own a sunflower stamp/image.

After a little searching I found a beautiful sunflower digital stamp called Pretty Petals available from Whimsy Stamps and set about colouring it in with my copics.  It was actually a nice change to get away from colouring christmas images. For my country feel I went with gingham paper, burlap ribbon and kraft card.  I started the card with a certain layout and rough design in mind and..well..I ended up doing something completely different - does that happen to anyone else?  My card fits best into the freestyle collage category.

Here is my card:

Whimsy Stamps - StampArt Design Pretty Petals Digital Stamp
Hero Arts Clear Design Stamps Thinking of You Messages
Lil Inker Designs - Stitched Rectangles
MFT Die-namics -  Blueprints 14
We R Memory Keepers Coroner Punch
Pink Petticoat - Goldenrod gingham digital paper
Doodlebug Sprinkles - Bon Bon assortment
Doodlebug Sprinkles - Bumblebee assortment
Burlap Ribbon, Mini Peg - from stash

Here is a close up of the sunflower.
