Hi Friends,

Can you believe that another weekend is nearly over, as is this month! With that came the realisation that I had not created a card for this months Progressive Challenge over at Gerda Steiner Designs - argghh, how did that happen! Thankfully I had some time to craft on Friday night and today...and just as well because it took all that time to put this card together!  It ended up being one of these cards where everything goes wrong :(  I won't bore you with the details but let's just say it took four attempts to colour this image in....and that was just the start!

I wanted to play along with my favourite sketch challenge  Freshly Made Sketches too so used Narelle's fabulous layered sketch for this card.  I do love alot of layers.

Here is what I eventually managed to put together:

Gerda Steiner Designs - Snoozing Puppy Digital Stamp
Reverse Confetti Stamps - Fancy Word Coordinates
MFT Die-namics - Stitched Circle Stax
Cuttlebug Embossing Folder - Swiss Dots
Nitwit Digital Paper - Winter Wishes Collection - Plaid
Jenni Bowlin Digital Paper - Snowy Weather Collection
Memento Ink - London Fog
Simon Says Stamp Ink - Fossil
Simon Says Stamp Ink - Caribbean Blue
Copic Multi Liner - 0.3 Black
Doodlebug Designs Sprinkles - Lily White
Ranger - Glossy Accents
Wooden Heart from Stash

This darling image from Gerda Steiner Designs is called Snoozing Puppy, and I received it for free as I played along in last months challenge :) The puppy and wee mouse look so comfy and cozy and the face on the mouse is brilliant...soo cute.

Anyway, I coloured the image in with my copics, stamped the sentiment from Reverse Confetti below in London Fog Ink and used a MFT stitched circle to die-cut it out.

I wanted my card to have a cozy feel so decided to use a plaid paper with warm blue and brown tones - it reminds me of a blanket I used to have. I matched this up with some warm kraft paper. I inked the edges of each piece to give more definition.  These were layered onto my base layer which is the debossed side of a piece of white card which I foam mounted onto the base.  I added some enamel dots and a wooden heart to embellish.

Blissful Hello

Hi crafting friends,

I hope you had a great weekend.  I am quickly popping in to share a second card I made for this weeks 200th sketch celebration at Freshly Made Sketches.

MFT Stamps - Blissful Blooms
WPlus9 Die - Hand Lettered Hello
Neenah Cardstock - Desert Storm
Memento Ink - Tuxedo Black
Ranger - Glossy Accents
Ranger Liquid Pearls - Opaque White
Ranger Liquid Pearls - Gold
Uniball Signo Pen - White
Ribbon from stash

My MFT parcel arrived on Friday and I just had to play with some of my new goodies.  This stamp set is the newly released blissful blooms. I stamped a variety of petals and leaves in memento ink and coloured with copics.  I added gold liquid pearls to all the stamens and some white dots to some of the flowers.  I also added some dots of white liquid pearls in between the stamped images.

I used a piece of natural ribbon from my stash as the break line in the sketch.  I die-cut the hello, coloured it in with copics and added some glossy accents.

Wish Big

Happy weekend friends,

Today I am sharing a card I made for Freshly Made Sketches. They are celebrating their 200th sketch and have lots of fantastic prizes to give away, you should definitely check it out, the inspiration is amazing:)  Congrats to the ladies on reaching #200.

Here is my take on the sketch:
The Alley Way Stamps - All Washed Up
The Alley Way Stamps - More the Words
Clearly Besotted Dies - Scalloped Edges
Memento Ink - Tuxedo Black
Ranger Distress Inks - Salty Ocean, Peacock Feathers, Tumbled Glass
Ranger - Glossy Accents
Doodlebug Designs Sprinkles - Lily White
Uniball Signo Pen - White
From Stash - Acetate and Dark Blue Cardstock

I tried out ink smooshing for the first time to create the water.  It was great fun, if not a little messy and I somehow ended up with blue ink all up my arm - who knows how! I stamped the images in black memento ink and coloured them with my copics. I also added a very thick coating of glossy accents to the whale and I love how he came out :)  I glued the yellow fish and the whale directly onto my background.  I was going to later some vellum over the top of the water but my vellum is very thick and it just didn't look good so I decided to add some acetate instead.  I used a scalloped die to create a wave edging at the top. It actually gives the scene more depth though it is very hard to pick out from the photo.  I attached the acetate with a big drop of glossy accents which is hidden underneath the orange fish (which is glued on the top of the acetate). I added some bubbles with my white gel pen and some white enamel dots.

Dotty Birthday!

Hi Friends,

I hope your week is going well so far.  I have an extra day off work so am spending it crafting :)  Today I would like to share a card which was inspired by MFT Summer School's lesson 11 Repetition and lesson 12 Symmetry/Asymmetry.

Miriam and Stephanie both made fantastic cards featuring polka dots and it inspired me to use my MFT jumbo polka dots stencil which has been lying in my drawer for a few months now patiently waiting to be used!  I had a rummage in my ink box and pulled out three colours I thought would work well together for a male-themed card and with the exception of knowing I wanted to make a symmetrical card I made it up as I went along.

MFT Mix-ables Stencils - Jumbo Polka Dot
MFT Die-namics - Stitched Circles Stax
MFT Die-namics - Blueprints 14
MFT Die-namics - Happy
MFT Die-namics - Stitched Fishtail Flag Stax
Spellbinders Nestabilities - Large Circles
MFT Stamps - Happy Everything
Neenah Cardstock - Desert Storm
Memento Ink - Toffee Crunch
Simon Says Stamp Ink - Island Blue, Green Apple, Fossil
Doodlebug Designs Sequins - Swimming Pool Assortment
Doodlebug Designs Sequns - Limeade Assortment
Studio Calico Wooden Shapes - Stars
The Ribbon Girl - Natural Twine
Ranger - Glossy Accents
From Stash - Green Cardstock, Blue Star Button and Wide Ribbon

I used jumbo polka dot stencil and SSS ink in island blue, green apple and fossil to create the background which I then die cut with the large square from blueprints 14. I cut a strip of green cardstock and glued it on top of my background and then added a piece of ribbon from my stash. I layered this onto desert storm cardstock before layering on my card base.

To keep with the circle theme I die-cut a circle in desert storm and one in white cardstock and layered them as shown. I die-cut happy three times, sponging one with SSS Island Blue Ink and glued them together.  I then covered the entire word in glossy accents, allowed it to dry and glued it down. I made the stiched banner using the smallest stitched flagtail die and stamped birthday using memento toffee crunch ink. I added a button with twine and some tiny wooden stars.  I felt like my card was still missing something to decided to add some sequins to the background dots I glued them down with glossy accents and then decided I wasn't sure if I liked them or not....but they were glued down too well to remove them! It gives the card a bit of a retro feel!  I find masculine cards really hard to create but this one got the thumbs up from the husband before I even asked his opinion, so I'm happy with that :)

Deck the Halls

Hi there,

I hope you are having a great weekend.  I would like to share a card I make for Merry Monday, MFT Summer School and Freshly Made Sketches!

When I saw the current challenge at Merry Monday was pastels I thought I would give it a wide berth as I tend to go for bright, bold colours and didn't know where to begin with pastels. However, after reading one of MFT summer school lessons on colour saturation I thought..why not give pastels a go and challenge myself.  After spending a long, long time looking through my supplies and colours I decided to ink up my ornament banner builder by MFT and shockingly to use some inks for this card instead of my usual copic colouring.  I thought the current sketch at  Freshly Made Sketches would be perfect for the ornaments.

Here is what I came up with:

MFT Stamps - Ornament Banner Builder
MFT Die-namics - Ornament Banner
MFT Die-namics - Fishtail Flags Layer Stax
Papertrey Ink - Linen Impression Pate
Hero Arts Ink - Pastel Blue, Soft Pool, Soft Cantaloupe
Simon Says Stamp Ink - Mint, Smoke
Doodlebug Design Sprinkles - Spring Assortment
Papermania Adhesive Stones - Silver
Zig Wink of Stella Glitter Pen - Clear

For some background texture I used a linen impression plate by PTI. I lightly sponged this with pastel blue ink. I then added some clear wink of stella to the sponged blue area. I also sponged a strip of plain white card with SSS mint ink for the bottom of the card.  The ornaments were stamped with Hero Arts Soft Pool, Soft Cantaloupe Ink and SSS Mint Ink and a tiny silver stone was added to each. For the sentiment and the banner strip I used SSS Smoke Ink.

I'm not quite sure if I like the card or not but at least I achieved a soft pastel look :)

Party Monster

Hi there,

I am just popping in quickly to share a card I made for this weeks Freshly Made Sketches.

It's been a beautiful, sunny winter weekend here in Sydney which inspired me to use some bright colours and I just had to pair that up with a fun image, so out came my Create a Smile Monster Party Stamp set.

I stamped the image onto copic friendly paper with memento ink and masked the balloons to create a larger bunch.  I made a bit of a boo-boo with it which resulted me having to cut out a balloon and glue it over my mistake :( There is a tiny bit of black ink on one of my blue balloons but I had already coloured in the entire image before this happened and didn't want to redo it just had to stay...sigh!  I also used my copics to colour the die-cut chevrons to match the balloons.  The cute tiny stars are from Wplus9 and were stamped with SSS sunshine ink.

Create a Smile Stamps - Monster Party
Wplus9 Stamps - Unforgettable
MFT Die-namics - Stitched Rounded Rectangle Stax
MFT Die-namics - Stitched Circle Stax
MFT Die-namics - Peek-a-Boo Chevrons
WRMK Crop-a-dile - Corner Chomper
Simon Says Stamp Cardstock - Fog
Lawn Fawn Paper Pack - Let's Polka
Memento Ink - Tuxedo Black
Simon Says Stamp Ink - Sunshine
Copic Multi-liner - Black 0.3

Birthday Racoon

I hope everyone has had a good start to their week. I'm happy that I've finally managed to play along with the MFT Sketch Challenge. Every week I check out their inspiration and sketches but never seem to have time to play along. However I managed to squeeze in some extra crafting time so decided to join in. I love this sketch:

I decided it was time to ink up the Three Amigos Stamp Set from Mama Elephant. These critters are awesome and I love that you can add a variety of sentiments to sheet of paper.

This card was super easy to put together. The light blue sky background was created with my spritzer tool and copic B000 while the grass was coloured with copics. For a change you can actually see the sparkle of the wink of stella glitter pen on the balloon - yay!

Mama Elephant Clear Stamp Set - Three Amigos
Wplus9 Clear Stamp Set - Unforgettable
MFT Die-namics - Blueprints 13
MFT Die-namics - Grassy Fields
Lil' Inker Designs - Dual Stitched Circles
Mama Elephant Creative Cuts - Three Amigos

Hi Friends,
